Because of EEF grants, Buena Vista’s entire student population of 400 students were able to take classes from a fiddle music teacher.

This project at Buena Vista Middle School  brought a rich cultural music experience to the entire student population–400 students in grades K-5. The Artist in Residence, Kelly Thibodeaux, provided a unique and enriching set of lessons about fiddle music that students otherwise would not have received. Parents of each grade level were able to see their children perform at the end of the session as a culminating event.

This grant supplemented the music instruction that the district provides–which only occurs for one semester of the school year. Buena Vista administration, staff, and parents have demonstrated a long term commitment to holistic education that includes the arts. The Artist in Residence program directly aligns with this philosophy and commitment. We are very grateful for the opportunity this grant provided for our children. Thank you!
